Wrotham village advent walk offering a covid-safe outdoor event in Kent

A Kent village is offering families an alternative covid-secure Christmas activity in the form of an advent walk.

St George's C of E Primary School PTA in Wrotham is behind the month-long festive event.

The community has joined together to map out the unveiling of 24 advent windows around the village for children and visitors to find and admire on a wintery walk.

The event is likely to be welcomed by families left scrabbling for magical Christmas activities to enjoy with their children with so many traditional outings or events on hold this year both at school and in communities because of coronavirus.

And with families able to remain in the open air and socially-distance throughout, the advent walk has been deemed a covid-safe event to continue.

Each night in Wrotham a new advent window is lit, and this will continue every evening up until Christmas Eve when all 24 windows will have unveiled their designs.

Free maps are available at the village shop Hardens, for anyone wanting to be sure where all the windows are, alongside a collection tin for anyone wishing to contribute to the PTA's funds.

And in an additional activity homes and businesses are also displaying reindeer for children to count and spot during their walk around the village.
