Dover Castle Tudor Pageant event
It is 1544 and you have been invited to celebrate with King Henry VIII as he prepares to invade France!
Hear the sounds of cannons, muskets and drums and join an impressive colourful parade showcasing the strength of the King's army.
This fantastic journey back in time is taking place at Dover Castle on Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12.
Witness a re-enactment of a dramatic siege performed for the bad-tempered monarch or take a seat and watch a captivating play.
Step into a Tudor encampment and laugh with the King's hilarious fool and merry musicians before learning more about life in the sixteenth century.
Try your hand at striking Tudor coins, feel the weight of Henry's armour, learn more about foods eaten by courtiers and peasants and make sure little ones don't miss the junior jousting!
Diana Holford, events manager at English Heritage, said: “We’re delighted to be introducing a brand new event to Dover Castle this summer and to be bringing its fascinating Tudor history to life.
"As soon as they step through the gates visitors will feel like they’ve been transported back in time to 475 years ago and they’ll get to experience exactly what life was like in the Tudor period. King Henry VIII was famous for his bad temper, but with such a feast of entertainment we’re confident he and his visitors will be royally amused.”
The event takes place across the entire weekend from 10am until 5pm on each day.

Prices range from £21.50 for adults and £12.90 for children.
The price for English Heritage members is £1.50 for adults and £1.30 for children.
