Brogdale launches green space bingo for families and online hanami

by Angela Cole

A Kent attraction which teaches children about the wonders of nature has come up with two outdoor activities families can get join in with together.

Brogdale in Faversham would usually be celebrating its annual Hanami blossom festival during the Easter school holidays.

Although the trees will still bloom during the traditional Japanese blossom festival, visitors won't get to see it as the site is closed, so organisers are staging #onlinehanami on Instagram, encouraging people to share pictures of blossom trees in their gardens.

Brogdale has also launched Green Space Bingo to keep kids busy, and still discovering nature.

The downloadable bingo asks families to spot beetles, blossom, snails, sparrows and other nature in their gardens or on their daily walks and to take a photo and share it on Facebook tagging Brogdale here.

Operations manager Sara Smile said: "We’d love to see what you’ve discovered. Brogdale is a charity that works with children to educate them on fruit, gardening, wildlife, nature, farming and cooking. Although we’ve had to shut up shop for now, we’re still here to help keep the young ones entertained with on-line activities and information."
