Dame Jacqueline Wilson to hold afternoon event at Margate Winter Gardens
Young fans of children's author Dame Jacqueline Wilson are being invited to a special afternoon with the writer.
The event takes place on Sunday, May 20.
She will be talking about her career as a writer and her new book Rose Rivers at Margate's Winter Gardens.
The event has been organised by bookshop Waterstones in Canterbury.
Manager Martin Latham said: "We're really excited to have Jacqueline coming to Kent!
"She is one of our most popular and treasured children's authors, and we know that her legions of fans in and around Kent will really enjoy having the chance to get to see her and hear
all about her latest book, Rose Rivers."
Illustrated by Nick Sharratt, Rose Rivers is a new addition to Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather series.
It tells the story of Rose who lives in a beautiful house and has everything money can buy, but is troubled by why life is so unfair for people who are not born rich.
When a young Clover Moon joins the household as a nursemaid to Rose's troubled sister Beth, Rose finds a true friend for the first time.
There will be no book signing following the talk but there will be plenty of opportunities for children to ask questions.
Copies of Rose Rivers, along with other books by Jacqueline Wilson will be available to purchase from Waterstones on the day.
Tickets are priced at £5 for children and £7 for adults - or £18 including a copy of Rose Rivers - and can be booked with the theatre box office on 01843 292795.
