Dover Castle Second World War Weekend
An action packed bank holiday is on the cards when English Heritage's popular Second World War event returns to Dover Castle this weekend.
Visitors will be treated to a historical and nostalgic look back at England's finest hour as Dover Castle resumes its place on the front line.
Families can witness action packed battle in arena displays throughout the day, meet the British, German and American forces in their respective encampments, discover tales of espionage and the daring raid on St. Nazaire as recounted by the Motor Aces, get up close to a replica Spitfire and a real war tank.
While on the home front visitors can learn more about the victory roll hair-do in the 1940s beauty parlour, enjoy a warming brew from the original Naafi wagon, pick up something stronger in the 'Resistance Bar' and enjoy live music, learn more about the fashions and the rations and experience all things vintage.
Young visitors can also fall into step and tackle the children's Second World War assault course to see if they've got what it takes to be part of the King's Army.
Diana Holford, events manager at English Heritage, said: “The World War Two Weekend is one of our flagship events of the year at Dover Castle and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
"There’ll be a huge variety of things to see and do throughout the weekend so if you’re looking for something which will keep the whole family entertained, join us at Dover Castle this bank holiday for an unforgettable experience.”
The World War Two Weekend at Dover Castle runs from 10am until 5pm between Saturday, May 26 and Monday, May 28.
