Ribena farm Gushmere Court in Faversham, Kent opens for the Big Berry Bash

Families can learn about a blackcurrant's journey from bush to bottle when a Kent Ribena farm opens its doors to visitors.

But you'll need to be quick should you want to go along - as there are just 150 tickets available to go behind the scenes at Gushmere Court Farm in Faversham.

The event will also include a hog roast, live music, the chance to pick other types of berries and some fun berry space hopper races along the blackcurrant rows.

Farmer Joshua Berry is throwing open the gates to his farm on Saturday, July 7 as part of free event The Big Berry Bash.

Fifth generation blackcurrant grower Joshua, who works alongside wife Lucy, is one of just 38 growers trusted to grow 10,000 tonnes of British blackcurrants that go into making Ribena every year.

The couple will show families what goes on behind the scenes running a working fruit farm as the blackcurrant harvest gets underway.

Joshua Berry said: “We’re delighted to open our doors to the people of Kent and give them a behind-the-scenes look at a blackcurrant farm before the crop is picked for harvest. It’s at this time of year that the berries are their juiciest and ready to be sent off to the factory and made into Ribena.

“Growing blackcurrants is an all-year round job but it’s not just the fruit that we care for. We also work with Ribena to protect the wildlife that lives on our farm too, and we’ll be sharing how we do this on the day. With so much to do and see, we’re expecting a big turnout and so urge people to sign-up to avoid disappointment.”

Places on Saturday (July 7) are limited to just 150 and visitors must register here in advance to guarantee their spot on the day.
