Virtual fire station open day with Kent Fire and Rescue Service on Friday, February 5

Take your children on a virtual tour of a Kent fire station.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is promising a fun and free event that is guaranteed to keep youngsters at home enthralled and informed.

The virtual fire station open day is taking place on Friday, February 5.

Beginning at 11am and running until 2pm, videos, filmed before coronavirus restrictions came into force, will be posted through the day on the KFRS Facebook page.

Families can tune in via a mobile, tablet or laptop and enjoy everything, say organisers, that a normal open day would show them - but from the comfort of their own home.

There will be a virtual fire station tour alongside educational and safety videos with appearances from Kent firefighters, the education team and mascot Byrnes family.

Virtual open days were first trialled by the fire service last year when government restrictions because of the coronavirus pandemic prevented firefighters from welcoming visitors to their fire stations for the annual open day events.

It is hoped the event will appeal to families and youngsters currently not at school who may be looking for informative things to do and enjoy.
