Half term events at Howletts Wild Animal Park near Canterbury

Take a walk on the wild side this half term and learn about the important conservation efforts being made by one Kent's wildlife parks.

The rangers at Howletts Wild Animal Park will be giving a series of talks to visitors during the February school break about their conservation work.

From learning about the roles of overseas patrol teams in protecting projects around the world to free animal talks through which visitors can learn more about the work of The Aspinall Foundation. Themes will include elephants, rhino, gorillas and big cats and visitors can check the notice boards for times and locations.

Events take place between Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 24.

Alongside the free fact-packed talks, visitors will also be able to follow a fun trail around the park, to discover more about The Aspinall Foundation’s ground breaking conservation work, including its exciting ‘Mega Fauna’ project.

This is all alongside watching the elephants and gorillas - both of which are enjoying new arrivals - walking with the lemurs and getting up close to the beautiful big cats in their glass fronted, open top enclosures.

And after spotting over 400 animals in the park, families can venture into the past with the Animals of the Ice which is a permanent exhibition featuring life sized and anatomically correct prehistoric creatures including the mighty mammoth, gigantic ground sloth and savage sabre toothed cats.
