Kent lambing weekends and events this spring

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, do you want to know where the lambing is?

In Woodchurch at the South of England Rare Breeds Centre staff hope lambs will begin arriving from Friday, March 18.

Lambing at the farm-tastic tourist attraction usually lasts for around two to three weeks, during which visitors may have the opportunity to not only see the new additions but, on occasions, also feed any sock lambs which are having to be cared for and fed by Rare Breeds staff.

Lambing takes place alongside all the usual fun on the farm, which includes friendly farm animals to meet and pet, a ride on the big red trailer, indoor and outdoor play areas and home cooked food and cakes in the Granary Restaurant.

And visitors heading to the farmyard attraction near Ashford between March and May could also be fortunate enough to spot the odd new calf as the centre’s longhorn cattle also reach their due dates in the coming months.

Next month annual hospice fundraiser Springtime at the Farm will see Harvel House Farm near Meopham open its gates to families once again.

The annual lambing day on Saturday, April 9 gives you the chance to see newborn lambs at feeding time, have your face painted, shop and enjoy a great array of food, all while raising money for the ellenor hospice in north Kent.

The Harvel Lane farm will be open from 11am to 3pm.

Admission will be £4 for adults, £2 for children under 16 and £10 for a family ticket for two adults and two children.

A week later, the farmer's club at New Line Learning Academy in Maidstone, will be welcoming visitors to its lambing weekend and grand opening of its new farm.

The event on April 16 and 17 from 11am until 4pm each day will include a chance to meet all the new arrivals, browse a variety of stalls and celebrate with students the reopening of the farm.

The Boughton Lane farmyard in Loose is charging just £2 for adults and £1 for children coming to the event.
