A Kent museum has reopened - with half price entry until the end of this month.

Canterbury Roman Museum has cut the price of tickets as it welcomes back families on their school summer break.

Roman Museum in Canterbury is reopening with a half price ticket offer

The museum in Butchery Lane is Kent's only Roman museum providing a fascinating and family-friendly insight into life in Roman Britain.

Visitors can explore Canterbury’s history, wander through the marketplace and discover hidden treasures as they step back, and down, to the streets of Roman Canterbury.

Mosaics, silverware, pottery and jewellery are all amongst the collections with many coming from the remains of what is thought to have been a very large and costly Roman Town House.

The museum has reopened to visitors this month, seven days a week between 10am and 5pm, and features an interactive projector where children can uncover a hidden mosaic and discover hidden treasure.

Capacity is limited to 12 visitors per session and pre-booking online is recommended but walk-in customers can still visit if space allows.

Alongside the museum collections, the toilets, gift shop and lift will all be available.

The explorer trail will also be open, but some activities, such as the Roman dressing up and the children's hands-on area, will be closed in line with Covid-19 guidelines.

Adult tickets to the museum are £9 each but visitors can get 50% off using the code ROMAN50 when booking online. Two children automatically go free with every full paying adult with admission for additional children £1.50.
