The coastal attraction is just one of two English Heritage properties hosting Minecraft workshops this summer as part of its #LoveCastles season, enabling visitors to build one of England's most famous castles in the shadow of the real thing.

Minecraft experts Blockbuilders and YouTuber Amy Lee will be on hand this Sunday (August 19) to coach players in the art of virtual castle building and help them create the ultimate Minecraft castle.

Computers will be provided and VR headsets will enable visitors to see their creations in 3D.

Eric Winbolt from English Heritage, said: “The upcoming Minecraft workshop at Dover Castle is a unique opportunity for people to build with the Minecraft pros within the walls of a real castle.

"People will have up to 50 minutes to build their ultimate castle, placing blocks or using pre-made floorplans and components such as turrets and walls available on the server. We can’t wait to see what creations people come up with."

After the Minecraft workshop, all builds will be put onto a secure public server so that visitors can continue with their project at home.

The builder of the best Minecraft castle will be entered into English Heritage’s #LoveCastles promotion to win a stay in an English Heritage holiday cottage.

English Heritage has launched a #LoveCastles campaign this summer

The Minecraft workshops at Dover Castle start at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Sunday.

Sessions can be booked on the day, although workshop places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
