Natural History Museum in London launches I Spy Nature virtual festival

A virtual family festival has been launched to help families find things to do in the good weather.

The Natural History Museum, which would ordinarily be welcoming thousands of visitors during the half term break, is bringing its I Spy Nature festival online until the end of May.

With the long-range weather forecast looking sunny and dry and families on a half term break for home schooling until at least Monday, museum curators have come up with a vast range of suggestions for things families can do as they make the most of being able to spend more time outside.

Budding young scientists can get crafty keeping a half term nature journal, embark on bug and scavenger hunts to record the living things which can be found in local communities and there are also lots of hints and tips as to how to help the planet.

There are also hints and tips for children to help them spot animals both in the day and at night, together with a guide to making a homemade light trap to take a closer look at the insects living nearby.

Families keen to get crafty might appreciate the guide to pressing flowers whilst there is also a vast range of online talks to engage young people looking for education.
