Free tickets to Kent attractions are now up for grabs.

Registration for this year's Kent Big Weekend, in which a huge array of tourist hot spots and businesses open their doors or offer special gifts to lucky ticket holders, is now open.

You could meet the animals at Kent Life

Kent Big Weekend takes place on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5.

Families can now apply for free tickets to a wide range of attractions including Dover Castle, The Historic Dockyard, Dreamland, Bewl Water, Ightam Mote and some of Kent's biggest wildlife and animal parks.

Registration opened on Thursday (February 20) and will close on Monday, March 16.

Kent residents can apply for tickets to as many attractions as they wish but each Kent Big Weekend applicant will only be eligible to win one set of tickets, which will be allocated at random by ballot.

Most attractions are offering a pair of tickets but some family tickets, say organisers Visit Kent, are also available.

The Kent Big Weekend was designed back in 2007 to promote Kent's incredible wealth of attractions and encourage residents to discover how much is available to do and see on their doorstep.

Walmer Castle and Gardens is among the attractions

Consequently the event also uncovers a wide range of smaller hidden gems throughout the county with spots like Lullingstone Roman Villa, the Seaside Museum Herne Bay, Mount Ephraim Gardens and Rotten Ramsgate Tours also adding their names to the list of Kent tourist spots offering free tickets this year.

Those keen on getting their hands on free tickets can now apply at www.kentbigweekend.co.uk

Last year there were over 296,000 applications for tickets to the event and so those entering are advised to bid for as many options as possible and not just their one preferred attraction.
