Need some inspiration for things to do with the kids this weekend?

We've put our thinking caps on and come up with these seven top suggestions.

1. American football with the Maidstone Pumas

If you've young ones who like the idea of American football - or if you fancy it yourself - there's an open training session at New Line Learning Academy in Boughton Lane, Maidstone, for the new season. Pop along to meet the coaches and players and get a feel for the club. Rookies and veterans are all welcome, from age 11 upwards. Head there from 9.30am to 12.30pm. 2. Kids travel for a quid, Spa Valley Railway

All weekend

Here's a cheap day return to beat any mainline railway. After last week's half term fun, the Tunbridge Wells railway is running its popular Kids Travel for a Quid offer throughout this weekend too. 3. 100 miles for 100 years, various locations

All weekend

Families are invited to join in the 100 miles for 100 years Heritage Lottery funded project’s county wide walking event. You will discover more about your town in the First World War, and find out where those who fought lived, went to school and worked. Using a self-guided trail leaflets explore your neighbourhood to locate the shops where people registered their ration books, the pubs they used or the cinemas they went to. Events in Appledore, Ashford, Canterbury, Dartford, Deal, Dover, Gravesend, Great Chart, Herne Bay, Isle of Sheppey, Lydd, Maidstone, Margate, Ramsgate, Sevenoaks, Tenterden, Tonbridge and Westgate on Sea. 4. Pottery session, No-34 Sittingbourne High Street

Drop in with your creative head on, to be shown how to make a ceramic bowl by artist Rosie Melville at the free session between 11am and 2pm. You can also see some of the ceramic creations Rosie has made herself.

5. Gravesend Borough Market

Gravesend’s Borough Market, celebrating its 750th Anniversary this year, will echo to the

somewhat unfamiliar sound of cracking oyster shells as the Forget-Me-Not-Vintage folks hold their inaugural Arts & Crafts Fair. Parking is also free and the market offers a range of refreshment outlets and is a dog-friendly venue. 6. Chatham Historic Dockyard

Until Sunday, February 25

Science fiend Doc.Yard is at the dockyard - which has just opened after a winter break - until Sunday, February 25. The interactive 45-minute experience will be enticing young scientists through its doors and giving some hands-on lessons involving balloons, lasers and submarine red lights. The lab is split into four zones and running regular sessions through the day, which can be pre-booked on arrival with timed tickets. Details are at thedockyard.co.uk or call 01634 823800.

7. Seasons of Change @ Tunbridge Wells Museum

All weekend

The story of the 148-year-history of local children's charity Fegans is being showcased at the museum and art gallery in Mount Pleasant until Saturday, June 9. The charity has been supporting families and children across the county and the South East since 1870. The exhibition looks at the work of founder James Fegan as well as its work today.
