A heritage railway attraction in Kent has announced it will reopen in May, following the publication of the government's plan for easing lockdown restrictions.

Under Step 3 of the Government's roadmap, from May 17 outdoor performances can go ahead and many social contact rules will be lifted, with many outdoor attractions able to reopen.

The railway hopes to reopen in May

As a result the Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells has announced it will be reopening on Saturday, May 22.

Commercial manager Jonnie Pay said: “We are so glad we can finally reopen and have already confirmed our upcoming events which will appear on our new website which is being launched later this month.

"We are enormously grateful for all the grant support and donations we have received to see us through to this point. We are looking forward to seeing our visitors and volunteers back at the railway and hope to have a busy summer.”

Families can soon begin planning their visits

The reopening is shortly before the late May bank holiday Steam and Diesel specials on May 30 and 31.
