Canterbury Food Festival, Dane John Gardens

Friday, September 27 until Sunday, September 29

There is fun to be had for all the family at Kent's biggest celebration of food, drink and culture. Live music and entertainment on two stages, a kid's field, poet corner, live street performers and family activities will accompany more than 120 local traders offering a wide range of food, drinks and crafts.

The event is free to attend and will run from 10am to 6pm on the Friday and Saturday and 10am to 5pm on the Sunday.

LouLou's Vintage Fair, Westgate Hall, Canterbury

Saturday, September 28

Older children may love a treasure hunt through the quality and affordable vintage clothing, accessories, homeware and collectables on offer at popular LouLou's Vintage Fair this weekend. There will be items from every era from the 1940s to the 1980s alongside a pop-up beauty salon and traditional tea room. More details here.

Apple Pressing Weekend, Elham Valley Railway Line Trust, Folkestone

Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29

Traditional apple pressing will be the main attraction at this weekend's special event at the Countryside Centre and Railway Museum. Craft activities, live steam engines, sideshows, games and miniature train rides will also be on offer. Admission is free. Further information available here.

This new show from the creators of Aliens Love Underpants is promising to be monster-ously good! Follow young inventor Monty as he creates a whole world of whacky inventions and incredible monsters, but he has a problem – now he has made them all, what will he do with them!

The energetic show is offering thrills, spills, magic amd mayhem with original music and plenty of audience participation. Shows take place at 11.30am and 2pm. Tickets are £12.50 and available from www.emftheatre.com

Loose Scarecrow Festival, Loose near Maidstone

Running until Sunday, September 29

This weekend is your final chance to catch Loose's popular Scarecrow Festival. Gardens across the village are decorated with scarecrows and the event provides a fun activity for all the family as visitors, using a trail sheet, attempt to find them all and solve the clues.

Trail sheets cost £2 each and are available from Loose Post Office or The Chequers on Old Loose Hill or The Walnut Tree pub in Loose Road. Further details here.

SING, Dreamland Margate

Dreamland's free Sunday family film this weekend is SING which will take to the stage at 11.30am. Come and have a sing-a-long with the family, bring a blanket and enjoy the street food stalls and bars open at every screening.

The film follows Koala Buster Moon who presides over a once-grand theatre that has now fallen on hard times. Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.

Families are advised to wrap up warm and prepare for poor weather just in case! Further details available here.
