Actor Daniel Radcliffe reads the first chapter of Harry Potter for website Wizarding World

Lockdown has brought us mid-morning tales from children's author David Walliams and bedtime stories from Tom Hardy. And now it's the turn of actor Daniel Radcliffe to join the army of celebrities entertaining the nation - by reading the first chapter of JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The British actor - who played the boy wizard in the blockbuster films - has taken part in a video recording of himself reading the first few pages of the first instalment aloud to young fans.

The initiative called Harry Potter at Home is available on JK Rowling's online hub called Wizarding World.

Daniel Radcliffe has opened the project as the guest reader for chapter one but is set to be followed by a number of other celebrities who are going to take turns reading sections of the book.

Other names set to take part include David Beckham, Eddie Redmayne and Stephen Fry.

It's part of a number of projects on the website to help and support parents trying to educate their children at home because of the coronavirus outbreak.
