Rock School in Kent with The Gulbenkian Theatre and University of Kent

Budding musicians will be taking to the stage when Rock School returns to Kent this summer.

Now in its fourth year, Rock School is run for young people aged 11 to 19.

Musician, producer and tutor Peter Gill will once again be leading the ensemble, in conjunction with the Gulbenkian at The University of Kent.

The week-long course in Canterbury is held in August and is open to all serious musicians whether they are into rock, pop, funk, punk, jazz or hip hop.

The programme of workshops, seminars and practical sessions will cover all aspects of musicianship.

Performance skills, forming and running a band, effective self promotion, recording and production will also all be covered during the week.

Tutors, say course organisers, will include both professional musicians and music industry insiders, who will aim to give budding musicians the head-start they are looking for.

At the end of the week all the efforts and work of the young musicians will come together in a performance, where each participant will be able to showcase their new skills.

It costs £150 to attend the course – with fees covering tuition and materials,

But Peter Gill, Beyond Eternity Promotions Ltd and The Gulbenkian are offering some sponsored places to make the course accessible to young people who face financial barriers.
