#ImInCharge Kent-Teach's new campaign to inspire a new generation of teachers

Could Ed Sheeran take a music class at your school?

Or would a lesson in Minecraft help students with citizenship?

These are just two of the ideas creative pupils could put forward as part of a new campaign by Kent-Teach, which supports the recruitment of teachers to Kent schools, to get young people to consider what it could mean to have a career in a classroom.

#ImInCharge aims to inspire students aged between 11 and 16, by asking them to think hard as to what they would introduce to a lesson if they were responsible for a class of children.

Kent-Teach says it acknowledges that 'many people are cynical' about a teaching career and the #ImInCharge campaign hopes to inspire pupils and show them the incredible power of teaching before their minds are made up.

Using their own - or their parents - social media accounts, pupils can share their very best and bold teaching ideas with Kent-Teach using the hashtag #ImInCharge.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are all platforms, say Kent-Teach, for getting those inspirational ideas to them.

They can also submit their ideas via the Kent-Teach website.

The county's schools are also being encouraged to spread news of the innovative campaign by encouraging their pupils to think hard about what they would do if they ran the school timetable.

A Kent-Teach panel will consider all entries on Tuesday, May 21 with a winner - or winners - receiving the unique prize of a virtual reality headset.

What's more - the Kent-Teach team will also visit the winner's school, turn their idea into reality and film it in action.

That finished film will then be shared to motivate future teachers to teach in local schools.
