Travelodge jobs: Hotel chain has 25 vacancies in Kent and more to come

by My Kent Family reporter

Parents looking to return to paid work are being sought by a hotel chain.

A new recruitment campaign by Travelodge is searching for out of work parents who may be interested in jobs that can fit around the school run and will encourage them back into employment.

Travelodge, which has been pushing ahead with a major expansion drive across Kent, including a recent deal to open a hotel in Rochester and another soon to open in Ashford, says it has 25 vacancies currently available in the county.

Jobs include roles in reception, restaurants and housekeeping with many of them part-time positions.

Peter Gowers, Travelodge, chief executive said: “Travelodge is growing quickly and we want to unlock the potential of Britain’s mums and dads as they return to work. Hospitality can offer a great career for parents, with jobs close to home, hours that can match the school run, benefits that suit families and a path into management.

“We are preparing in earnest for post-Brexit Britain. With thousands of new jobs to fill, we need more new colleagues than ever.

"We’ve based our new programme on making it easier than ever for mums and dads to work around the school run and climb the career ladder whilst raising their family.”

Travelodge said recent YouGov research revealed that 86% of unemployed parents want to return to work but that almost two thirds of those find lack of flexibility the biggest barrier.

The budget hotel chain is targeting 'parent potential' as it plans to open 100 hotels over the next five years, which will create up to 3,000 new jobs nationwide.

And alongside the opportunity for flexible working are a full range of company benefits, says the firm, including discounted hotel stays, comprehensive training, a work buddy for support and to help get up to speed and the opportunity to join the Travelodge Aspire management programme.
