This Girl Can climbing sessions at Clip n Climb at Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne

Ever fancied as a mum having a go of the climbing walls you've watched your kids clamber?

Well now you can.

This Girl Can Climb is the message from a Kent leisure centre, which is running ladies-only climbing sessions at its new indoor Clip n Climb attraction.

Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne hosts the sessions for women of all ages and abilities in its new Active Zone, which opened in July, every Tuesday.

The zone incorporates a number of different climbing walls, cafe and refreshment area and a soft play centre for young children.

There is a choice of two This Girl Can Climb sessions each week - 7.30pm until 8.15pm and 8.15pm until 9pm. The cost is £7.95 per class.

Sessions are available to pre-book and each one comes with a free hot drink, which participants are encouraged to enjoy with fellow climbers in the 45 minutes after each sessions ends.

Climbing classes begin with a 15 minute safety briefing and set up followed by fun activities, exercises and games. It is described by organisers as having 'a fun, social and friendly environment'.

This Girl Can is a nationwide campaign funded by The National Lottery which aims to encourage women to find a form of exercise that's right for them and fits in with their lifetsyle that doesn't necessarily have to be more traditional gym sessions, exercise classes or team sports.

Swallows Leisure Centre says its This Girl Can is a 'constantly growing' community with climbing joining This Girl Can swimming and multi-sport/ activity sessions in its sports hall which also run each week.

Climbing participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing, covered shoes, with hair tied back and loose jewellery removed. Lockers are available for personal belongings.
