Argos announces top toys for 2019 to mark 200 days until Christmas

A toy retailer has announced its top toy predictions for 2019 - despite there still being 200 days until Christmas.

Whilst many of us still have our thoughts firmly fixed on the summer ahead, Argos has released a list of 12 toys it thinks will feature heavily in children's Christmas lists this year.

And even though summer has only just begun and Saturday (June 8) marks still 200 days until December 25 - the retailer says its research has revealed that a quarter of people have started Christmas shopping and just under 10 % of shoppers have already finished. The 12 toys in the Argos list will all be available to buy from the retailer from Saturday, July 27 - just as schools break for the summer holiday.

This year's list, says Argos, takes its major inspiration from some of the biggest television, film and video gaming franchises.

There are toys from Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Toy Story and Harry Potter as well as a £40 'Battle Bus' from popular online game Fortnite.

Argos, which has stores and outlets in Sainsbury's supermarkets across Kent, estimates that parents may spend an average of £273 on presents for their children this year.

Juliet Ward, Head of Toy Buying at Argos, said: “Digital entertainment is influencing play more than ever before with popular franchises inspiring toys like the Fisher Price Imaginext Transforming Batmobile and 7” Real Walking Buzz.

"There are also some really quirky innovations on the list this year, such as the collectable Blume Dolls, which magically sprout out of their flower pots when sprinkled with water.”

Toyologist Peter Jenkinson said he believes this year's list from Argos has something for everybody.

He explained: "This year’s top toys list is a great representation of the entire toy market, there’s something that will appeal to every child and of all ages. From the quirky to the interactive, toys which

encourage role-play to those designed for pure excitement and entertainment. All 12 toys are deserving of their spot and I’m struggling to find a favourite.”
