Betteshanger Country Park starts archery club after holiday success

by Lauren Abbott

A country park is launching its own archery group for children following hugely popular taster days over the school break.

Betteshanger Country Park has created Betteshanger Bows, which will launch this week with an introductory course perfect for young beginners.

Organisers say that one-to-one coaching from qualified instructors will help children learn how to hold a bow, aim and shoot, before progressing onto 3-arrow balloon shoot and 6-arrow competitions – everything needed to go all the way from beginner to Olympic standard!

The distance over which they shoot and the poundage of the bows will be set to suit each individual.

Betteshanger Bows is to meet each Saturday from 10am until 11.15am at the country park in Deal.

Courses will run on a five-week rotation and are suitable for children eight to 14.

Each block of five sessions is £40 or £35 for Betteshanger members.
