Online PE lessons for children with celebrity fitness expert Joe Wicks are re-starting.

The fitness coach and father-of-two made the announcement this afternoon (Monday).

Joe, who declared himself 'the nation's PE teacher' at the start of the first lockdown back in March 2020, took on a busy schedule last spring and summer of daily weekday fitness classes to get children up and moving each morning before home learning.

And with more children now returning to home school in Kent, and thousands of others expected to follow if tougher restrictions are brought in by the government, he is going to bring back the live #PEwithJoe fitness sessions three days a week to help kids once again kick-start their day.

They will begin on Monday (January 11) and take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Each fitness session, which children can take part in from the comfort of their living rooms, will last 20 minutes and is expected to be welcomed by families who are finding it considerably harder to get their children moving during the darker, shorter, colder, winter days, compared to last year's spring and summer lockdown.

Available through his Body Coach YouTube channel, the live stream will begin on those mornings at 9am.

In a video message to families, in which he acknowledged the 'difficult time' parents and children were facing with growing numbers of schools closed, he said he hoped to bring some energy, change moods and lift spirits for youngsters across the country who once again find themselves learning at home.

He added: "Please please share this with as many families as you can and let your schools know so they can notify the parents ASAP and we can get as many young children taking part.

"This is so important for our children’s emotional and mental health."
