Kent kids: Are free school meals beneficial to pupils?
There is no argument they save parents time and money but as of yet there's no conclusive proof if free school meals are beneficial to the health or education of youngsters.
That is the verdict of a new report by the Educational Policy Institute, which found some school leaders surveyed felt readiness for learning had improved, while others disagreed.
