Coronavirus Kent: Premier League Primary Stars football-themed learning and online football challenges

Despite the fact that we are hurtling into spring is any other parent thinking this good weather is going to come to an abrupt end?

Let's be honest - there's self isolation and social distancing with small children and then here's self isolation and social distancing with small children in the rain *searches for sobbing emoji.

I'm sure we're all making the most of this good weather whilst we can so that when it does rain - which it undoubtedly will - the kids have already had as much chance to be outside as possible.

So today around school work timetables they were also rummaging in the back of the garage to find last year's garden toys.

A football goal is a fairly permanent fixture in our garden but the discovery today of bats, balls, swingball sets and outdoor games they haven't set eyes on since September, was like finding buried treasure and has provided plenty of amusement and given them plenty of things to enjoy by themselves.

I may have drawn a line at the sprinklers and paddling pool though - for now at least.

Kickstart Sports, which would in any normal week be running netball, tennis, football and cricket coaching and sports camps at venues and leisure centres across Kent for children, has instead been posting some daily skills-based challenges online.

A video a day is uploaded by one of the team's coaches to its facebook page, and then the kids need to have a go at filming their own efforts on a phone or tablet and sending them back. Here's a brief clip of one of Oscar and Liv's efforts below...

And continuing the sporting theme - particularly if you've a youngster who can be easily encouraged by a computer game that includes their favourite football team - we've been having a go at the Premier League's Primary Stars online learning.

There's spelling and maths games, kids can pick their own Premier League football team and avatar to play with and it features plenty of familiar virtual team mates.

It's a brilliant way to undertake some learning in what is essentially your own cartoon version of Match of the Day. Take a look at Solve, Shoot, Score here.

And in preparation for when it does rain, one of this week's jobs is to also take a look at Disney's new streaming service. Disney+, which launched today, is also currently offering a seven-day free trial.

Because in the style of everyone's favourite nanny Mary Poppins - the bank of films, series and documentaries from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic - might have to come to our rescue when the poor weather blows in.
