Could you sport your shorts for a Kent children's hospice which desperately needs your support?

Demelza Hospice Care for Children is calling on supporters of all ages to join the Shorts4shortlives campaign on July 2 to support the charity which has seen its income drop significantly because of coronavirus.

Demelza desperately needs financial support as it manages the effects of coronavirus

With the recent hot weather we've all got pretty good at reaching for the summer clothes and staff at Demelza hope that families will do so on Thursday together with a donation, which will help them continue providing a lifeline to more than 750 children, young people and families.

Demelza is appeaking for people on Thursday, July 2 to wear a pair of shorts - the brighter and bolder the better - post a photo on social media with the hashtage #Shorts4shortlives and donate via a fundraising link to support the organisation's work.

And with many people still learning and working from home - the charity hopes people will take the cause to their hearts and join remotely instead.

Perhaps you're a teacher setting work from home and in the absence of other non-school uniform days your class could take part virtually or could you encourage your work colleagues to take part and join the next online meeting in their best attire?Tamsyn Clark, director of fundraising and marketing at Demelza said “When you have a child living with a serious or terminal condition, the idea that life’s too short is more real than for most. And in lockdown, this expression has more meaning than it ever has."
