Spend your summer cooking up a storm with the kids in preparation for a children's cooking competition coming to Kent in September.

The KM Charity Team is looking for budding young chefs to enter its kitchen contest Young Cooks.

People who do so by September 1 will be entered into a free prize draw to win a pair of Eurostar tickets.

Budding Young Cooks competitors

Young Cooks is a Masterchef-style competition which aims to unearth the best young kitchen talent from across the South East.

It is open to children and young people aged six to 19.

They are invited to submit ideas for dishes that are both healthy and delicious.

The aim of the competition is to develop the confidence and abilities of young people to prepare meals to a fixed budget, as well as to increase awareness of healthy options and locally grown Kentish produce.

There are cash prizes for primary and secondary entrants, families and overall champions - with a £200 top prize going to the overall winner.

The competition's finalists will be invited to cook their dish for a VIP panel at the live final at East Kent College in Broadstairs.

The Young Cooks judging organisations are NFU Mutual, SE Medical, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Orbit, Benenden Hospital Trust, Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Chequers Kitchen Cookery School, Licensing Consultancy Services, The Southern Co-operative, Whole School Meals, Brakes, East Kent College, and Macknade Fine Foods.
