Families in Kent with offspring set to start school next September can now make their primary school application.

Kent County Council has opened applications for children due to start primary school in September 2018.

The ability to apply online - or by post - opened at 9am on Monday, November 6.

Is your child due to start school in 2018?

Families have until January 15, 2018 to submit their application to Kent County Council.

Over in Medway, the council opened its application process back in September but follow the same closing date as Kent, which is the national closing day, of January 15.

Families can now apply to KCC for up to three schools - putting them in order of preference.

Parents are advised to list three different schools as naming one school does not guarantee a child a place at that school. Neither does naming the same school more than once.

Applying for your school is a big decision

To apply to a school outside of Kent, you must name the school in your application along with your other preferences and your application details will be passed on to to the relevant local authority for processing.

Some schools may also need applicants to fill out an additional form called a Supplementary Information Form (SIF), which is available from the school and will probably be explained during any visiting days or open events prospective pupils and their families attend.
