One lucky child will help switch on the Christmas lights in a town centre this year.

The Mall in Maidstone has launched a joke competition, with the winner being given the chance to join Hollyoaks and Dancing on Ice star Jake Quickenden in making the town twinkle.

Jake, who is starring in this year’s Beauty and the Beast panto at the Hazlitt Theatre, will be pressing the button in Jubilee Square alongside one child on Thursday, November 21 at 6.30pm.

To enter, all you have to do is share your favourite joke by downloading a form from The Mall’s website and handing it into the Ask Me Point by November 17.

The winner will be drawn the following day and will then take to the stage with Jake and Garry and Laura from kmfm.

Suzie Brindle, marketing manager of The Mall: “We can’t wait to hear the jokes that the children come up with and hope this will be an exciting and memorable opportunity for the winner.”

The competition is also in collaboration with One Maidstone and the Hazlitt Theatre.
