Children's Awards with Wards, The Kent Community Foundation and KM Group close for nominations on July 22

There are just days left to nominate a courageous child from Kent and send them off to a glitzy movie-themed party.

The Children's Awards is now closing for nominations on Monday (July 22).

A final flurry of interest has meant organisers have pushed back the closing date by a few days. This means there is still time to tell us about children, families or charities which deserve special recognition, a fantastic day out on us and a prize which is as special as they are.

We have seven categories seeking nominations this year.

We want to know about those showing triumph over adversity - specifically children aged up to 16 who are working to overcome a severe illness or disability.

We'd like to reward fundraisers - either a group of children or individual child who has raised funds for a deserving organisation.

There are awards for those achieving in sports, music or performing arts despite disability and there will be recognition for a young carer, courageous family and an outstanding charity.

We also want to seek out brave and courageous kids who have dealt brilliantly with an emergency or a frightening situation.

You don't need to be related to someone to nominate them.

They may live in your street, go to your child's school or be part of a sports team or club that you're a member of.

But unless our readers tell us about these unsung heroes, we can't celebrate them at November's gala lunch hosted by GMB presenter Charlotte Hawkins.
