Top baby names for 2018 from Babycentre - the half-year results!

We've all got one and very often we've also got an opinion on the one someone else chooses.

That's it you've guessed it - a name!

And what is amongst the top 20 girls and boys names for 2018 has been unveiled by pregnancy and parenting website Babycentre which has taken a look at the half-year results.

Olivia is topping the charts for the girls, followed by Sophia, Amelia, Lily and Emily.

For the boys, Muhammad currently takes the number one spot, followed by Oliver, Noah, George and Harry.

But outside of the top 20 there are also some trends emerging.

Names with a more unique spelling are growing in popularity - with Jaxon more popular than Jackson for the first time.

Victoria, Zara and Charlotte were all high climbers, possibly as a result of some royal fever this year, albeit royal watchers will need to wait until the end of year results to see whether Louis has made an impact following the birth of Prince William's third child.

And there could be a nod to the popularity of Avengers films with high climbers including Ezra, Benjamin and Amber.
