Maidstone Mothercare to close but Canterbury and Bluewater stores are safe

Mothercare is closing one of its Kent stores and is preparing to launch a closing down sale before Christmas.

In July the struggling firm announced it was to close 60 stores nationwide.

It has now been confirmed the Maidstone branch in Week Street will be one of them.

No closing date has been however a sale will begin on Wednesday, December 19.

All stock is being reduced to clear.

A spokesperson said: “This is a great opportunity for shoppers to get some amazing bargains on last minute Christmas gifts and maternity, baby and toddler essentials. Our most popular ranges will sell out quickly so we encourage all customers to come into the store as soon as possible to avoid disappointment."

Stores in Bluewater and Canterbury will remain open.

Mothercare expects 60 of its 137 stores will be closed by June 2019.
