by Lauren Abbott

A Kent tennis club is hoping to capitalise on interest surrounding the sport during Wimbledon with a family open day.

Meopham Lawn Tennis Club says visitors can come and try tennis for free when it opens its courts on Sunday (July 8).

The open day is taking place on the middle Sunday of Wimbledon - perfect timing for anyone inspired to have a go at tennis as a result of the grass court championships.

The event is billed as a fun day for all the family with free coaching sessions for both children and adults.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability, and the club says it can even cater for the tiniest of tots keen to pick up a racket.

Potential players should come wearing trainers but rackets will be provided.

The event takes place from 10am until 1pm at the club in north Kent which can be found behind Meopham village hall in Wrotham Road.
