American fast food chain Captain D’s announces opening date for first European venture in Broadstairs
The opening date has been announced for a massive American fast food chain’s first European venture.
Captain D’s, known for its fried fish and platters, will be opening at Westwood Cross, Broadstairs, later this month.
It will be the company’s first restaurant in Europe, joining 535 branches in the USA.
The chain, based in Nashville, Tennessee, first said it wanted to open in the county in March.
The new restaurant will be housed inside the former Debenhams site, which is already home to Hollywood Bowl, Riparo Lounge, AirHop Trampoline Park and Taco Bell.
Fran Donovan, Centre Director at Westwood Cross, said: “Captain D’s will be a fantastic addition to Westwood Cross, and we’re thrilled to be the home to its very first UK location.
“Captain D’s is a much-loved American brand, and it brings something truly unique not just to Broadstairs, but to the country.
“We’re excited for our guests to enjoy its signature seafood and chicken dishes and experience its Southern-inspired hospitality for themselves, and we look forward to sharing more details soon.”
Previously, Captain D’s said it would set up 20 new locations across the UK following the Kent opening.
This followed a deal to acquire the sites with company CDs Holdings.
It had its sights set on Surrey and Hampshire as the next spots.
UK Chairman of Captain D’s, Daryl Stutchbury, said: “Captain D’s isn’t just another fast-food outlet – it’s a premium experience rooted in quality, community, and innovation.
“We’re proud to be setting the stage here in Kent and can’t wait to welcome our first guests.”
Brad Reed, senior vice president of Captain D’s, added: “We’re excited to see the momentum building. The response from the local community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are confident this launch will be a great success.”
Captain D’s is due to open at Westwood Cross on Monday, October 20.
