Santa’s Grotto and Christmas cabins to return to Westwood Cross, Broadstairs, from November

A Kent shopping centre has confirmed that Santa will once again be stopping off over the Christmas period.

Westwood Cross, near Broadstairs, will be setting up its festive cabins and glittering Santa’s Grotto for visitors to get into the seasonal spirit this winter.

The grotto will give families a chance to meet Santa, see if their names are on the Nice List and receive a gift to take home.

The experience will be at the centre’s Sundial area, near Next, from Friday, November 28.

Walk-ups are welcome, but booking in advance here is recommended as the grotto has proved popular in previous years. Tickets start from £7.50 for children; it’s free for adults to enter.

The Christmas Cabins, situated in the Main Mall from H. Samuel to Boots and continuing opposite Hotel Chocolat, will also return for the festive period.

Local and independent traders will be setting up shop from Saturday, November 15, selling Christmas gifts and seasonal produce.

Visitors can browse stalls from the likes of Fudgey Fancies, a female-fronted business delivering homemade fudge; Bun and Rise, an artisan bakery based in Margate; Kidz Closet, a children’s clothing boutique selling Christmas Eve boxes; and Nomad Jewellery, featuring silver and stainless steel jewellery and semi-precious gems.

Fran Donovan, centre director at Westwood Cross, said, “Christmas is always such a special time at Westwood Cross. The centre comes alive with festive decorations — from our giant teddy bear and reindeer to the walk-through bauble and feature tree outside Hollywood Bowl — creating a magical atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

“We’re proud to host a mix of well-known brands and independent traders at our Christmas market, giving visitors plenty of choice when it comes to finding unique gifts and festive treats.

“Santa’s Grotto is always a highlight of the season, and we’d encourage families to book early to avoid disappointment. We can’t wait to welcome everyone and help create some truly memorable moments this Christmas.”
