Tickets selling fast for the Polar Express Train Ride from Spa Valley Railway, Tunbridge Wells, this Christmas
Tickets are selling fast for one of Kent’s best-loved Christmas attractions, which launches this weekend (Saturday, November 8).
The Polar Express Train Ride will set off from the Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells to take passengers on a magical journey based on the festive film.
Passengers can step aboard an authentic steam train and meet the conductor who will punch the golden tickets.
Visitors can expect dancing chefs serving hot chocolate and cookies, a reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s classic book and a visit from Father Christmas.
Families are also encouraged to wear pyjamas, like the characters in the 2004 film starring Tom Hanks, and everyone will get to take their ticket home as a keepsake.
This year, organisers have turned to West End director Pip Minnithorpe, who has worked on theatre shows such as Wicked, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Mamma Mia, to help create a more immersive experience.
“Inspired by the characters and events of the original book and movie, we tell the story using the exciting opportunities of live theatre - song, dance, music, drama, comedy, illusion, lighting, special effects - and piping hot chocolate of course,” says Pip.
“The audience are immersed into the experience just like the children in the film - taken on a physical journey in search of Santa, but also an emotional journey: to rediscover the spirit of Christmas. Just don’t forget your golden ticket!”
The train rides will run from Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells from Saturday, November 8 until Tuesday, December 30. You can book tickets here.
The train also departs from London Euston from Friday, December 5 to Tuesday, December 23.
