Alongside the usual mile-long course through the Great Lines Heritage Park, there will also be relay and competitive races, face-painting, a mascot race, and live entertainment.

The free event will begin at 5pm with the children’s track races, sponsored by Child-Friendly Medway, where all participants will receive a medal.

The main Medway Mile event will take place at 8pm and this year’s course is entirely on the Great Lines, passing the Chatham Naval Memorial and taking in great views of Chatham and Gillingham.

Throughout the day there will also be chances to try out and observe demonstrations of a range of sports and activities including boxing, korfball, hockey, skateboarding and dancing.

The day will be fun for all ages as there will also be a Medway Sport inflatable toddler zone and shows, including a circus performer.
