Bluewater Christmas lights switch-on - plans revealed!
Twelve amazing acts and one fantastic night.
That is the promise by Bluewater Shopping Centre as it prepares for its new-look Christmas lights switch-on event.
The Big Switch On takes place this Thursday, November 9 from 5pm.
The large outdoor event and firework display of previous years has this year been replaced with indoor celebrations including festive performances of comedy, music and dance.
New decorations are also set to be unveiled and all surround a 12 Days of Christmas theme.
The line-up of performances for the evening includes:
- A Partridge in a Pear Tree - a stilt walking tree
- 2 Turtle Doves - dancers performing in a beautiful bird cage
- 3 French Hens - comedy trio
- 4 Calling Birds - a one-woman puppeteer
- 5 Gold Rings - hula hooping fun
- 6 Geese-a-Laying - nesting geese puppetry
- 7 Swans-a-Swimming - stilt walking ballerinas
- 8 Maids a-milking - an 8-man comedy act and a life-size cow!
- 9 Ladies Dancing - ballerinas dancing to the Nutcracker
- 10 Lords a-Leaping - dancers on bouncy stilts
- 11 Pipers Piping - traditional bag pipers
- 12 Drummers Drumming - interactive drumming performance
All acts will perform in 30 minute rotations between 5pm and 8pm on the hour and half past the hour.
At 6.30pm the Christmas lights will be switched on and final performances will take place between 7.30 and 8pm.
Stores will remain open until their usual 9pm closing time as the centre's Christmas trading hours do not begin until Black Friday on November 24.
