Lordswood School in Lordswood Lane, Chatham rated ‘outstanding’ by Oftsed
A primary school has been praised by Ofsted for its “high standards” and its determination that its pupils receive the “very best education”.
Staff at Lordswood School, in Chatham, have said they are “proud” of the result as they move from a “good” rating to “outstanding” in all areas.
The school, which is part of the Griffin Schools Trust, was praised following its latest inspection for having an “ambitious” and “aspirational” curriculum which incorporated its pupil’s interests.
Inspectors said that as a result, the children made “rapid progress” no matter their starting points and achieve “highly” and are ready for the next stage of their education.
The report added: “The school exudes high standards in all it does. Everyone is determined that pupils will receive the very best education and the widest opportunities possible.
“They [pupils] concentrate intently as they practise new learning, determined to master it successfully and live up to the school’s high expectations of them.
“As pupils get older, they become resilient, independent learners and there are no limits to them achieving highly.”
“Everyone is determined that pupils will receive the very best education and the widest opportunities possible…”
Although, it was stated that the pupils achieve higher than the national published outcomes, inspectors said some do not reach national expectations by the end of key stage 2.
The school, which has more than 400 students, was commended for its special educational needs and disabilities support and early years work developing speech, language and communication.
Staff were also praised for their “expert knowledge of the subjects they teach”, for building the children’s self-esteem and confidence and were said to be “proud” of the school.
Inspectors also said that the pupils trusted the teachers, felt “safe and valued” at the school in Lordswood Lane and “thrive both academically and socially”.
Commenting on the report from July, head teacher, Jayne Lusinski, said: “The whole school community is incredibly proud that Lordswood’s passionate commitment to learning has been recognised by Ofsted.
“Inspired by the Griffin Schools Trust’s vision of proud traditions, wide horizons and high achievement, we are driven by a desire to offer the best possible education for all our pupils.
“We work in partnership with parents and the local community and welcome visitors to tour our wonderful school and extensive grounds.
“Lordswood is a welcoming, nurturing environment where all pupils are encouraged to be the best they can be and fulfil their greatest potential, which is reflected in our school motto - ‘Learning without Limits’.”
