Hobbycraft at Tower Retail Park in Crayford to shut

Another Kent Hobbycraft store is set to close next month.

The branch at Tower Retail Park in Crayford, near Dartford, will be closing its doors in September.

It is currently running a closing-down sale for customers.

A Hobbycraft spokesperson said: “We can confirm that as a result of a restructuring of the business, Hobbycraft’s Crayford store will unfortunately be closing in September.

“The exact closure date is still being finalised.

“We are incredibly grateful to our hardworking and dedicated colleagues at the Crayford store.

“Individual consultations will take place with all colleagues, and we will explore possible alternatives to redundancy, as we currently have a number of vacancies at other stores.”

The retailer said the closure is a necessary part of ensuring a healthy and sustainable future for the business in an in an “increasingly challenging retail environment”.

“Dialogue continues with a number of landlords as part of the ongoing review process, with the aim of ensuring that at least 99 stores and over 1,800 colleagues can continue serving crafting communities across the UK for many years to come,” the spokesperson added.

For customers of Crayford, the nearest store is now in Greenwich.

The retailer suddenly quit its store at Strood Retail Park back in May.

The chain will also be shutting several other stores across the country.
