He's fought in the battle for Middle Earth and embarked on swashbuckling adventures as Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean.

But Orlando Bloom's next role could prove to be his toughest yet - capturing the imagination of pre-schoolers when he reads the Cbeebies bedtime story.

The Kent-born movie star will read We Are Together written by Britta Teckentrup on Friday, November 9.

The story, which celebrates the importance of having special friends and family in your life, is one of two that the Canterbury actor and former St Edmund's School pupil has recorded for the television channel's 6.50pm slot.

Orlando says: “Through my travels as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador I’ve met children in countries all over the world, and witnessed firsthand how storytelling between adults and young children helps cement their bond.

"Children light up when being taken on imaginary adventures through storytelling, and it helps their creativity grow. It was great to be a part of CBeebies Bedtime Stories.”

Other famous names to have read stories on the channel include Tom Hardy, Sir Elton John and Dolly Parton.
