Things to do in Kent this weekend June 7 and June 8

As summer warms up so does Kent's events calendar!

From summer fairs to farm fun days, there is once again lots happening right across the county this weekend and many have small admission charges which will be welcomed by cash-strapped parents left counting the cost of the recent half term holiday.

If you're looking for something to do with the kids this weekend that won't break the bank - here are some super suggestions.

1 Maidstone Mencap Summer Fair

Saturday, June 8

A fun filled family afternoon is promised at one of the biggest events of the year for Mencap in Maidstone. The organisation's grand summer fair takes place this Saturday and is offering free entry to all! There will be arena events, a beer garden, barbecue, pony rides, children's games, stalls and prizes

2 Family Fun Weekend, Glovers Farm, New Ash Green

Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 9

An action packed weekend on the farm is taking place this weekend. Animals, machinery, stalls, games, live music and entertainment, displays and demonstrations and classic cars are going to pile into Glovers Farm on Hartley Bottom Road.
The event marks the farm's annual Summer Show as well as the second day of the big event falling on the same weekend as Open Farm Sunday. Admission is just £4 for adults and £2 for children. To learn more click here.

3 Open Farm Sunday, county-wide

Sunday, June 9

Farms across Kent will be opening their gates to visitors this weekend for just a small admission charge as part of Open Farm Sunday.

The event aims to showcase all aspects of farming and farming life, allows families to get up close to animals, machinery and enjoy produce grown locally whilst many hold additional events and attractions such as pony rides, games and stalls and farming and craft demonstrations.

Among those opening their doors across the county will be The Dairy belonging to Solley's real dairy ice cream and a centre in Smarden which introduces people with disabilities to farm management. To learn more about all the farms in Kent opening on Sunday please click here.

4 The Mason Mile, Mote Park, Maidstone

Sunday, June 9

Families are being encouraged to walk, jog or run a mile together as part of a free family fun day at Mote Park.

It is being organised by Kent-based wellbeing charity The Mason Mile and runs from 10am until 2pm. As part of events taking place across the park is the one-mile event which encourages friends and family to get active around the park together for fun. To learn more click here.

5 Kent Modified Mash-up Static Car and Bike Show, Faversham

Sunday, June 9

Modified cars and bikes will be rolling into Faversham Showground in Staple Street on Sunday between 10am and 4pm. There will be show vehicles, a mini fun fair, trade fair, children's attractions, live music and refreshments. Admission is £5 for adults but all children under 16 go free! 6 Summer Fair, Swalecliffe Primary, Whitstable

Sunday, June 9

Swalecliffe Community Primary says a wealth of activities will be on offer at its traditional summer fair on Sunday.

There will be an inflatable assault course, sweet jar hoopla, welly toss, raffles and a tombola. Firefighters from Whitstable fire station are also scheduled to attend to give children the opportunity to get-up close to a fire engine. The event in Bridgefield Road takes place from noon and promises fun for all the family!

7 KM Colour Run, Betteshanger Park in Deal

Sunday, June 9

Chase the rainbow this summer at the KM Colour Run. Fun-loving runners of all ages are welcome to join the 5K challenge with a technicolour twist or come along and enjoy the event and the park's other facilities as spectators. The Colour Run is not a race, with the emphasis instead on having fun and participants can walk, jog or run the course together.

8 D-Day 75 Commemorations, Battle of Britain Memorial

Sunday, June 9

Live music and classic car displays will form part of a special event at Kent's Battle of Britain memorial in Capel Le Ferne this Sunday.

There will be performances from the Rock Choir and Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra and the South Eastern Section of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club will also be showcasing their wonderful cars.

The event is free but there is a small charge for parking. Learn more here.
