The city's model railway society is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exhibition that will include the most layouts ever. Adult tickets are £5, children £3 and family passes £13. Two children are free with a paying adult on Sunday! Hot and cold food and drinks will also be available and there is free parking space permitting.

Saturday, January 19

Join the Country Parks team on a winter walk through Lullingstone Country Park. The two hour guided walks will take in some of the park or its neighbouring land and will enable you to make the best of the park in the winter time. Tickets are £3. More details here.

Family Arts award day, Maidstone Museum

Children over five can gain a 'Discover Arts' award this weekend at Maidstone museum. Discover lots of different faces and emotions around the museum, explore the museum for ideas and then make a clay face mask to show two different emotions. All resources will be provided but children need to bring a packed lunch.

A certificate is awarded on completion and delivery of certificates can take six to eight weeks, to be collected from the museum or posted out. A museum certificate is also awarded on the day. The day costs £20 and can be booked here.

Mrs H and the Sing-along band, Tom Thumb Theatre

Saturday, January 19

Mrs H and the Sing-along band is bringing its unique and infectious blend of family music to Margate. The music for children, that adults will love too brings together elements of folk, soul, Latin, comedy and theatre. There will be an array of instruments including guitars, banjos, double bass, accordion and trumpet and participants should bring their best voices!

Sunday, January 20

Older children may enjoy a trip to the January Sale Special at one of the country's top vintage fairs this weekend. A huge sale of vintage fashion, accessories, collectables and more is promised with deals and discounts expected. Teas and cakes will also be served to keep shoppers refreshed. Entry is £2 on the door, and free for those under 12.
