1. 50 things to do indoors

When school closures and social-distancing guidelines were first announced My Kent Family published a list of 50 possible things to do with the family during lockdown.

Suggestions for activities indoors include organising a family movie night, making fat balls or feeders for the birds, crafting paper aeroplanes and creating a family portrait or piece of artwork to mark your time in lockdown.

There is also a list of possible indoor games the kids can play such as an indoor hopscotch, teaching the kids a family card game or a fun and silly round of 'would you rather'. (There's definitely lots of questions you can pose for the latter as we've all spent lots of time at home now thinking of what else we'd like to be doing).

2. Delegate to a famous face

No, not quite Mary Poppins but there are a raft of celebrities and television personalities who have signed up to help with a series of new programmes and this June two more have hit our screens.

Strictly dancer Oti Mabuse has launched Oti's Boogie Beebies whilst a mountain of celebrities have joined the new CBBC show Celebrity Supply Teacher.

Filmed from her living room during lockdown, Oti takes grown-ups and pre-schoolers through short daily dance routine which will be combined with an exciting adventure.

Whilst over on the BBC channel for older children, various celebrities are sharing their skills in a variety of subjects from PE and fitness to gardening and cooking.

The RSPCA is running some fun virtual pet shows and is looking for fluffy and furry contestants!

The events, all run online, cost £2 to enter and could be a great way for the kids to enjoy an activity with the family pet.

5. Don't let rain stop all the play!

A little rain never hurt anybody - so the saying goes. And whilst it makes it more difficult to keep the kids occupied when it pours continuously and you can't usher them quickly into the garden to play, in the current climate youngsters will benefit from a dose of fresh air each day as they find themselves not leaving home for any other reason such as going to school or to visit family.

Dig out the welly boots, the waterproofs and the umbrellas that may have moved to the back of the cupboard in the past few weeks and brave a stroll in the showers. You could even join in some puddle jumping too!

Hever Castle has also reopened its grounds and gardens if you're looking for a change of scene outside. Please click here for details as to how to pre-book your tickets.
