Bought the cards, gifts and have some ideas for a tempting treat or special outing up your sleeve?

If you're not yet organised for March 31 and are still on the lookout for something special to do with the magical mums in your family, take a look at one of these Kent events being held to celebrate Mothering Sunday:

A Weekend For Mum, Penshurst Place, Tonbridge

Crafts in the Old Coach House are taking place at Penshurst Place on Saturday, March 30 ahead of Mother's Day while on Sunday alongside crafts will be special lunch menus in the Porcupine Pantry and Garden Restaurant.
Sunday will also see a unique presentation by Tudor Legacies and the six wives of Henry VIII who are ready to finally reveal what it was really like to be married to the famous King!

Mother's Day weekend at Hever Castle

Show your mum just how much you love her with a family day out to Hever Castle on Mother’s Day weekend. The historic Castle and stunning gardens is putting on some super special events over the weekend to celebrate Mothering Sunday.

Visit the castle, enjoy a walk around the stunning 125 acre grounds or head over to the Tudor Towers adventure playground and natural play area to let the little ones run off some energy. There is also craft and cupcake decorating sessions running (may require an extra charge). And when everyone is in need of some refreshment, afternoon tea is being served in the elegant Guthrie Pavilion Restaurant in the Italian Garden overlooking the Lake (pre-booking is a must!).

Make Mum's Day is the offer at National Trust property Ightam Mote. Between 11am and 3pm on Mothering Sunday children can pop into the Squire's Room to make mum a present, enjoy lunch or a cream tea in the café or send mum into the shop where luxury hand massages are taking place. Mother's Day at Leeds Castle

Enjoy a special two or three course Sunday lunch, dinner, or champagne afternoon tea, for Mother’s Day on Sunday, March 31 at Port Lympne Hotel. Lunch will be served from noon to 3pm, whilst dinner is served from 6pm until 9pm and is £25 per person for two courses and £30 per person for three courses.

Mothering Sunday on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway

Snap up tickets to a memorable Mother's Day for your mum with a day on the railway. Not only will she be able to take a seat and travel along the line being pulled by a world famous steam locomotive but she could also get the chance to drive the train! Mums ‘Drive a Train’ takes place at New Romney Station where she can take control of the regulator and take the locomotive to the outer station limits under the watchful eye and guidance of one of our experienced drivers.

Travel on the Spa Valley Railway on Mothering Sunday and enjoy some tasty treats during your journey.

From morning coffee on the 10.20am service, a Ploughman's lunch on the 13.40 or cream tea at 15.20 from Tunbridge Wells to Eridge there is plenty for passengers to enjoy to make the day particularly memorable. Bookings should be made in advance on the railway’s website www.spavalleyrailwayco.uk

First There is a Mountain project, Leysdown

Families are being encouraged to join an art project and build sandcastles on a beach on Mothering Sunday.

The project called First There is a Mountain will see a north Kent beach transformed into an enormous sand sculpture as participants mould the area into thousands of mountains of sand to form micro-geologies. A unique set of buckets, shaped like some of the world's most well-known mountains, have been designed and made for the project which the public will be able to use along with spades to build the sand mountains between 3pm and 5pm. Afternoon Tea at Dreamland, Margate

Treat the most important lady in your life to some vintage splendour this Mother’s Day.

Dreamland Margate is hosting a vintage afternoon tea on Sunday, March 31 in the beautiful restored 1920s ballroom.

Guests can choose from two sittings and enjoy an array of scones, cakes and finger sandwiches together with drinks. Tables are available from 1pm to 3pm or 4pm to 6pm, and tea is £15 per person (plus a booking fee). Make a booking here.
