National Trust events in Kent for February half term

It's finally here! The first half term break of the new year has arrived and touch wood - so far - the weather looks good.

The National Trust is running a number of events for kids to get messy, muddy and back in touch with nature.

From den building to trails, treehouses to teepees - there's lots of adventure to be had. Below are some top activities for a wild day out this half term:

Family trail: Who was Winston Churchill? Chartwell

Discover weird and wonderful stories about the man who made Chartwell famous. From animal impersonations to ransom notes, this family trail will reveal the hidden man behind the cigar. Giant sculptures and installations bring the stories to life around the garden and grounds While you’re there, see if you can find Donkey Jack’s caravan or why not take a stroll over to the treehouse and try out the slide.

Running until February 24, 10am until 4pm. To join the trail is free but normal Chartwell admission charges apply.

Monkey Puzzle Trail, Emmetts Garden,

Can you discover all the cheeky monkeys hiding in their favourite trees around the garden on our family trail? Find out why the Monkey Puzzle tree was a really important specimen for William Lobb along the way. Find the Discovery Cabin for more outdoor fun or get muddy in the wild play area.

The trail £1 per child to take part alongside normal admission fees.

Hibernation Trail, Ightam Mote

Follow the hibernation trail to discover which native animals live at Ightham Mote. They may be having a snooze until the weather gets a bit warmer so you’ll need to use your detective skills to spot them. The trail is free, normal admission fees apply.

Running until February 24 from 10am until 4pm each day.

Ceramic bird feeder craft sessions, Knole, Sevenoaks

Get crafty this half term and decorate a ceramic bird feeder and bird decoration to hang in your tree at home. Sessions take place on February 19 and 20 from 10.30am until noon. Cost is £9 per child, suitable for ages five to 11.
