After the long summer days, September and back to school can feel like a return to routine for many.

However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be a month full of flavour and fun for the whole family.

Whether you’re looking for mid-week meal inspiration, or need some warmer PJs to snuggle up in for Saturday movie nights with the little ones, M&S’s new store at Maidstone Eclipse Retail Park has got you covered.

Check out Store Manager André Brincat’s top picks and tips for the month:

Start the day right

“With the new school year in full swing, speedy breakfast ideas are essential. My go-to at the moment is toast topped with crunchy peanut butter, sliced M&S Select Farms bananas and a sprinkle of cinnamon – delicious and the kids love it!”

“In store we also have a huge frozen section, which means we’re able to offer a whole host of family friendly food which you can conveniently keep in your freezer and pop into dishes in moments. We have a great range of frozen fruit, perfect whizzed up into a smoothie or as toppings to porridge or cereal.”

Dinner has never been so simple

“The midweek dinner dilemma is something we’ve all faced – you’ve just got in from work and have hungry mouths to feed ASAP. What can you prepare that’s quick, nutritious and packed with great flavour? Well look no further - we’ve just launched our Remarkable Value range in store, which offers hundreds of weekly essentials at great value, everyday prices.

“To celebrate the new range we’ve teamed up with Chef, Chris Baber, to create some brilliant new family recipes , all designed to have minimal prep time so you can spend more time with family. Who said you can’t cook a roast chicken on a Wednesday?”

“As well as Chris’ recipes, our in-store experts will be on hand to help share foodie tips and inspiration whatever the day, to make sure your Monday to Friday is packed with as much flavour as the weekend!”

Cosy weekends ahead

“With chillier days to come, we’ve just started introducing our new seasonal Clothing ranges across Womenswear, Kidswear and Menswear. If you’re putting the summer clothes away and need to top up on the layers, we have plenty of knitwear to cosy up in, or matching pyjama sets. Perfect for Saturday movie nights on the sofa – just make sure not to forget the popcorn!”

“We’re also still offering three for two on select Kids Clothing, bringing together fun and functional pieces, ideal for running about at the weekends. Keep an eye on our store’s Facebook Page for more information about our latest offers and promotions.”

Back to School essentials

“With many schools heading back this week and next, if you need any last-minute essentials, from uniforms to back packs, we’ve got you covered. Our team is also on hand in store to make sure you get everything you need.

“Alongside uniforms, if you’re dusting off the lunchboxes our Foodhall is packed with easy lunchtime essentials for the little ones, from fresh vegetables and fruit grown at M&S Select Farms, to sandwich fillings and lunchbox favourites like yoghurts and cereal bars.”

September style

“If you’re looking to put an Autumn-spin on your home décor, our Home department has everything you need for fresh inspiration. We have both classic and contemporary styles so you can find accessories and furniture to suit your home.”

“With the new season in mind our mustard and rust coloured cushions and throws are proving very popular – we have a beautiful mustard velvet bee-print cushion in store at the moment which is flying (excuse the pun) off the shelves.

“If you’re helping any of the kids get ready for going back to university, or moving out for the first time, we also have all the essentials you need to get them started – from cooking ware and crockery to bed sheets and throws, with a great mix of colours and prints so they can put their own stamp on their home away from home.”
