Activities for a child's birthday in lockdown with Beano and Save the Children

Lockdown birthday kits are available to buy to help families make the most of a celebration at home.

Save the Children has teamed up with Beano to give families all the tools for an exciting celebration indoors. And it's not just fun for the kids to claim - there's even virtual party props for adults celebrating a birthday whilst working from home including whatsapp invites and novel backgrounds for video meetings!

An estimated 350,000 children will celebrate their birthday at home in May, says the charity, prompting Beano's most popular characters including Dennis the Menace and Minnie to help unleash some mischievous birthday fun for families struggling to come up with fun and memorable ideas to mark a birthday in isolation.

The Lockdown Birthday Bash party kits for children, which are available in return for a donation to Save the Children, include personalised cards, a personalised window poster to alert passing neighbours to a celebration, stickers and postcards. It also comes with links to a digital pack containing ideas for activities, pranks, recipes and birthday games that can be enjoyed at home.

Whilst for adults turning another year older, in return for their donation, they can claim a range of virtual props for an isolation birthday including Whatsapp party invites, novel backgrounds that can be used in virtual meetings or online conferences and sheets of silly Beano jokes to share with friends and colleagues.

Emma Scott, at Beano Studios said: “We have been working with Save the Children for a number of years and it’s really fantastic we have come together at what is a tough time for people across the country to provide some Beano party fun to those celebrating their birthdays but also help to raise much-needed cash to support children to thrive during these challenging times.”
