Hever Castle is being transformed this Saturday and Sunday to give visitors a taste of life on the home front during the Second World War in the latest living history event to take place in the county.

The historic castle will be showing families exactly what Kent residents would have had to contend with after war broke out in 1939.

There will be displays of Home Guard drills and re-enactments and period model boats on the Moat.
Little ones can also take part in a workshop alongside tours of the Military Museum on both days.

Plus on Saturday, Hever Castle will host visiting veteran soldiers, pilots and sailors who served both during and after the Second World War - allowing visitors to hear first-hand accounts of the conflict and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Visitors who wish to come in period costume are encouraged to do so - and any outfit can be completed with a visit to the on-site 1940s hair salon!

Hever Home Front is taking place on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. For Hever Castle admission prices, as well as the opportunity to book tickets in advance with a small discount, please click here.
